Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and now based in Kenya, he is dedicated to empowering displaced communities and promoting their meaningful participation in humanitarian efforts and decision-making. Honored with the Europe Region UNHCR Volunteer Service Award for his exceptional contributions, Bahana was the first refugee to work with UNHCR Geneva as a United Nations Volunteer—a milestone that underscores his passion and commitment to refugee empowerment.
With an Associate Degree in Computer Science and professional certifications in Project Management, Digital Marketing, and Social Selling, Bahana combines technical expertise with visionary leadership. As a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and Group Leader at StepUp.one, he spearheads initiatives that re-skill refugees into digital professionals and link them with global opportunities. Additionally, as the Founder and Executive Director of the Solidarity Initiative for Refugees, he drives innovative programs and advocacy efforts to enhance access to quality education and dignified livelihood opportunities. Outside of his professional endeavors, Bahana is a devoted father of three and an avid reader, continually inspiring positive transformation within refugee communities worldwide.
